Jose Alonso, MD
Dr. Alonso earned his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed both his residency and Chief Residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Throughout his career, he has held key leadership and academic roles, including serving as Medical Director of the inpatient rehab units at Columbia and Assistant Clinical Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine.
With a strong foundation in clinical education, geriatric rehabilitation research, and program development, Dr. Alonso has also served as Medical Director at JFK Medical Center and Genesis in Westfield, New Jersey, where he focused on delivering comprehensive rehabilitation services.
Since 2003, he has led subacute rehab programs across multiple facilities, consistently prioritizing high-quality, multilingual care that supports patients holistically—physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and vocationally.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Alonso enjoys spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, embracing the balance between professional dedication and personal joy
